Sarah is an artist, printmaker and teacher from Suffolk who creates original prints and art inspired by energy, movement and connection in the moment. She is a graduate of London’s Central Saint Martins where she obtained an honors degree in Fine Art: Sculpture and more recently graduated from Goldsmiths University of London completing a Masters degree in Practising and Teaching Contemporary Art. Since 2016 she has combined family life with making, exhibiting, selling and teaching art. Last year she won two art awards and recently had her first solo show at Sun Pier House Gallery in Chatham, Kent.
Sarah’s ideas are directly concerned with walking outdoors and meditation. The inspiration behind her work stems from observing energy and flow coupled with the need to capture moments of calmness and clarity.
Through her investigations into the complexity and essence of nature, she aims to create energy and movement through the layered application of black and coloured inks that are intuitively applied to surfaces. Moments of reflection and contemplation are created through the systematic process of printmaking and the patterns and forms that emerge.
Sarah describes her work as making connections through the immediacy of drawing and printing multiple layers, exploring and finding balance through fluid mark making. Process is central to her practice and drawing and mark making is central to that.
